Rob trains in the pool as well as open water

Rob Healey, 42, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in the summer of 1994.

Last year he organised and swam in the first ever Tri-service Cross Channel Relay Race with teams from the Army, Navy and RAF swimming against each other to win the coveted Channel Eagle Trophy.

Rob is delighted to be supporting this first ever Diabetes UK Cross Channel Relay Race.  It’s a fantastic challenge and will be a great experience for everyone involved.

SUCCESS!!!!

On Friday 22nd August 2008 12 brave swimmers in 2 teams of 6 successfully swum the English Channel to raise money for Diabetes UK. In fact they have raised more than £20,000.

Thanks must go out to all those friends, family and well-wishers who helped with moral support as well as deep pockets.  To Emily Jones and Rob Healey for organising the event, to the Observers, Pilots and Officers of the CS&PF for their fantastic practical support and advice, to all those we met at weekend Dover Harbour training and to Elin and Sinead the Specialist Diabetic Nurses who braved the high seas with us as our medical support - we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
